2023 - I began this website project to learn how websites work. My first website was first hosted for free on 000webhost.com. It was a blank page with "coming soon" text and a "graphic design is my passion" meme. Following a tutorial I added a rainbow animation to the "coming soon" text. I bought my first domain baguettejet.fans, but couldn't get the SSL certificate to work so it stayed as a http website.
2024 - After a long break, I returned and found 000webhost.com was shut down. I moved to hosting for free on GitHub.com, bought the domain baguettejet.com and secured the site to https. There were many improvements and additions made. Multiple pages, custom menu, and styling. I felt so proud making a baguette jet logo fly across the screen and have the website theme be not only toggleable but also saved.
2025 - Many months passed before I came back to this project. I added a few details and created a visitor counter that was hosted on glitch.io. It used an API to read and write data to a .json file and updated as new users visited the site. Weeks later, glitch.io had shut down and I returned to recreate it using firebase.google.com. It was far better and more responsive.
2026 - not quite there yet
